'Romantimatic' app reminds you to send messages to your Valentine

An app that helps you to be 'romantic' by reminding you to send text messages to your loved ones.
'Romantimatic' app reminds you to send messages to your Valentine
Greg Knauss, a web and software developer, has created a new easy-to-use app called 'Romantimatic'. The app reminds the user to send romantic text messages or call your partner.
The app requires you to enter your partner's phone number and set the time and frequency with which you want to receive notifications. It sends a push notification when it's time to call your partner or send them an SMS. Users can send messages like "Totally swamped, but can't get you off my mind," or write their own.
Greg Knauss who has been married for 18 years got the idea for the app as he realized he some times forgets to tell his wife that he loves her.
"We live in a world where it's easier to communicate with another human being than ever before - a world that also places relentless demands on our time and attention," the app's official page states.
"Even with the amazing technology we have in our pockets, we can fly through the day without remembering to send a simple 'I love you' to the most important person in our lives. Romantimatic can help," according to the app description on its website.
Greg told Mashable, "If I could hire some guy to stand behind me and once a day kick my chair and say 'Hey, dumbass, say something nice to your wife,' I would. It's a little easier and less creepy to have an app do it."
The 'Romantimatic' iPhone app is available for $1.99 from the App Store.

KissMS app lets you send virtual kisses

"KissMS" is an app that allows users to send "real" kisses and bouquets to their near and dear ones on Valentines day.
KissMS app lets you send virtual kisses this Valentines
Now you can send bouquets and kisses to your loved ones on this Valentines Day with KIssMS. The app is available for Android on Play Store and for iOS users on the App Store.
KissMS app has been developed by Volmacht Business Solutions (VBS) a Kerala based start-up. The app enables users to send hugs, kisses and bouquets to their loved ones. According to Badusha Gulam Khader, the CEO of VBS, KissMS enables a user to place a ‘KISS’ at the centre of emotional messaging.
He adds, "Users can send different ‘kisses’ depending on the purpose and mood of the message, including Good Morning Kiss, a New Year Kiss or a Birthday Kiss. The app also offers a variety of ‘Kimojis’ (kiss emoji) with a choice of hugs, bouquets, punches and even rings. Users can send text messages or a 10-second long voice message along with the KissMS message.
"There are different types of kisses like Good Morning kiss, New Year kiss, Birthday kiss, Get Well Soon kiss, Miss You kiss and so on. One can reject 'kisses' if they don't like them and can accept the rejected kisses later," VBS CEO Badusha Ghulam Khader said.
Maghesh Babu, managing director of VBS said, “It’s not just an app. It is one that is going to change the way people look at a kiss. One can rate kisses and an optional attachment of 10-second audio recording facility has been included in the app to bring the message more forcefully. The idea is to turn a kiss into a synonym for ‘I care'."

Recently a new app called 'Romantimatic' was launched by Greg Knauss, a web and software developer. The app reminds the user to send romantic text messages or call your partner. Users can enter their partner's phone number and set the time and frequency with which they want to receive notifications. The app sends an automatic push notification when it's time to call your partner or send them an SMS. Users can send cute messages like "Totally swamped, but can't get you off my mind," or write their own personal texts.

Soon you can send texts with flavored smells
A Harvard University researcher and his team has created an 'oChip' that can send thousands of unique fragrances via phone calls, text or social media.
The chip has been put in a phone called oPhone. It is the brainchild of Harvard Professor David Edwards and two of his design students, Rachel Field and Amy Yin, who have established Vapor Communications operating out of Le Laboratorie (Le Lab) in Paris to bring the device to market.
David Edwards also teamed up with French designers Baptiste Viala and Laurent Mion to produce a working prototype which was displayed at the arts and design center Le Laboratoire in Paris recently.
Edwards believes oPhone can send complex odors to people and may even help Alzheimer's patients recover old memories.
The scents can be shared via smartphone attachments and Bluetooth devices to other oPhones across the country, states or ocean.
So how does the oPhone work? It all begins with the reproduction of particular scents such as coffee or citrus flavors, and then by arranging molecules of these flavors in a certain order and at different ratios. The result creates aromatic profiles.
“Scents are deconstructed by an aroma expert. The specific aroma profiles are captured and loaded into an 'oChip',” explained David Edwards, a biomedical engineering professor at Harvard. "Each 'oChip' can release thousands of unique odors for 20 to 30 seconds," he added.
"We create unique aromatic profiles," says Blake Armstrong, director of business communications at Vapor Communications, an organization operating out of Le Laboratorie (Le Lab) in Paris. "We put that into the oChip that faithfully renders that smell."
Armstrong added that they are already working on improving the scent-transmitting phone for the end-of-year Beta release. They want feedback before a major release in 2015. The oPhone will eventually be smaller, "more intimate," according to Armstrong.
Recently, researchers also developed KissMs app that sends virtual kisses and bouquets to their loved ones. The app was released on Valentines Day and is available for users on Android and iOS app stores. Users can send a variety of ‘Kimojis’ (kiss emoji) with a choice of hugs, bouquets, punches, rings and send it along with a 10-second long voice message.

WhatsApp to add free voice calls after Facebook acquisition

WhatsApp will be adding free voice calls by mid year for its 465 million users.
WhatsApp to add free voice calls after Facebook acquisition
Messaging giant Whatsapp will soon be adding free voice calls for its 465 million users. The update comes shortly after the app was acquired by Facebook in a $19 billion deal.
The new service is likely to be available in the second quarter of this year. WhatsApp CEO Jan Koum said at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona that they want to hit 1 billion users with the new feature.
“We are driven by the mission that people should be able to stay in touch anywhere and affordably,” Koum said at the Mobile World Congress industry fair in Barcelona on Monday.
The company's move will not sit well with telecom operators. Adding free calls threatens telecom revenue source which has been declining anyway as carriers' tweak tariffs to focus on mobile data instead of calls. Messaging apps like WhatsApp, Viber and WeChat have won over telecom operators' customers in recent years by offering a free option to text messaging.
However Koum states that the company is not attacking Telecom operators but is working with them. The messaging app has tied with Telecom operator e-plus to offer special tariffs to access the app. He added that Whatsapp will continue to function the same way as it was before the Facebook acquisition. “There are no planned changes and we will continue to do what we set out to do, even after the acquisition closes,” Koum said. “Still no marketing.”
Facebook acquired the messaging app in a $19 billion deal. Koum stated that WhatsApp now has 465 million monthly active users and 330 million daily users, an increase of nearly 15 million users post the Facebook acquisition last week.

Google smartwatch mockup
Google smartwatch mockup

Techcrunch is reporting that the much-rumoured Google smartwatch is real and will most probably be arriving in June. Separately, @evleaks has posted that the smartwatch is being manufactured by LG, which has also partnered with Google for Nexus 4 and 5 smartphones.
According to Techcrunch, the smartwatch will come with a plastic band, full colour square display, and Bluetooth 4.0 LE for communicating with the smartphones. There doesn’t seems to be application support at this moment but Google could release an SDK later for developers to build apps for the smartwatch.
Techcrunch writes:
The whole idea behind the watch’s concept is that you shouldn’t have to take out your phone for various ambient alerts, like finding out who’s calling you or who just texted, for example.
Interactions with the watch are very gesture-driven. That is, swiping alerts and tapping to select.
Coming to @evleaks’ claims, the leaker is stating that we could the debut of Google smartwatch at I/O 204, which matches with the June timeline revealed by Techcrunch. Also, Google has often used I/O as the platform to unveil such hardware offerings like Chromecast last year.

The 25 Most Dangerous Animals In The World

Sometimes distinguishing between furry cuteness and pure destruction is not an easy task. In fact, many of the animals kingdom’s cutest critters also happen to be its most prolific killers. You think that cute little puffer fish is adorable? Will you hold your breath as you reach to pet it? The answer is yes. Forever. So keep that in mind as you read through our list of the worlds most dangerous animals.

25

Deathstalker

deathstalker scorpionphoto – furryscale
This highly venomous scorpion residing primarily in North Africa and the Middle East is responsible for over 75% of scorpion related deaths every year. Although healthy adults usually only feel unbearable pain, children that are envenomated suffer fever, coma, convulsions, and paralysis before their lungs fill up and they drown in their own fluids.
24

Africanized Honey Bee

Africanized Honey Beephoto – Daniel Plumer
An experiment gone wrong, in 1957 a Brazilian bee keeper who was trying to interbreed European and African honey bees accidently let some of his “pets” get away. Much more aggressive than their European counterparts, these genetically mixed “killer bees” have since then spread through out the Americas. They have come to be feared in some regions because of their tendency to swarm relentlessly and aggressively chase their victims for miles.
23

Rhinoceros

Rhinocerosphoto – jonathunder
Rhino related deaths are not an uncommon occurrence in many parts of the world. Having terrible eyesight, they are easy to startle and once they have you in their sights it can be hard to make an escape (unless you can run faster than 40 mph). See the horn? Enough said.
22

Cone Snail

Cone Snailphoto – gregthebusker
One drop of venom from this little bugger is enough to end 20 human lives. Sometimes colloquially known as the “cigarette snail,” it has been said that when you are stung by this creature, you’ll have just about enough time to smoke a cigaret before you stop breathing. It’s not like it matters anyway though…there is no antivenom.
21

Stonefish

Stonefishphoto – lazlo
Lying camouflaged on the ocean floor, this ugly little mass of destruction calmly waits for other fish to swim by before opening its jaws with lightning speed and consuming its prey…all in less than .015 seconds. Also known as the “worlds most venomous fish”, stepping on its spines will at best cost you your leg and at worst, your life.
20

Great White Shark

Great White Sharkphoto – David Fleetham
These legendary predators have a terrible time distinguishing between the edible and the non-edible. There chosen method? Sampling. They sample buoys, boats, surfboards, humans, anything that floats. Contrary to popular belief, however, they really aren’t man-eaters. Humans are too bony, and after the initial bite, they usually leave you to bleed out in the water.
19

Black Mamba

Black Mambaphoto – Tim Vickers
One of the most feared creatures in the world, some experts have even called it “death incarnate.” In Africa it is the source of numerous myths and legends and it is widely known for being highly aggressive, very fast, and attacking without provocation.
18

Cape Buffalo

Cape Buffalophoto – Ikiwaner
Having never been successfully domesticated, this highly unpredictable creature does not play nice with humans. Throughout Africa it is known as the “widowmaker” or “black death” and is responsible for more fatalities every year than any other large animal on the continent.
17

Poison Dart Frog

Poison Dart Frogphoto – ucumari
Packed into 2 inches of colorful amphibian is enough poison to kill an army of 20,000 mice. This means that with roughly 2 micrograms, or the amount that would fit on a pinhead, you could successfully stop the heart of a large animal. And to make matters worse, the poison is actually located on the surface of the skin. You seriously can’t touch this.
16

Polar Bear

Polar Bearphoto – Alan Wilson
Unlike most other animals on this list, the world’s largest carnivore is not afraid of you. It has no natural predators and will eat anything that is even slightly meaty, including other polar bears. Although they generally don’t kill humans, it’s probably because there aren’t many of them around to kill.
15

Box Jellyfish

Box Jellyfishphoto – David Doubilet
Killing more people every year than sharks, crocodiles, and stonefish combined, this box of death has been labeled “world’s most venomous animal.” Its venom is so potent in fact, that in some cases treatment consists of little more than last minute CPR.
14

African Lion

African Lionphoto – National Geographic
While humans are generally not on their hit-list, some lions have been known to actively seek out human prey. One famous case was that of the Tsavo man-eaters in 1898 who mauled and killed 28 railway workers in Kenya over a 9 month period.
13

Boomslang

Boomslangphoto – William Warby
Although they are relatively shy and don’t generally attack humans, when they do, things can get messy. Boomslang venom is a hemotoxin that disables blood clotting. In others words, its victims slowly die as they bleed out from every pore in their body.
12

Puffer Fish

Puffer Fishphoto – Mila Zinkova
Considered one of the most poisonous vertebrates in the world, if you have read our article about the 25 strangest foods in the world, you know that it is a delicacy in Japan. Puffer poison will, however, paralyze your diaphragm and stop your breathing if you fail to prepare it correctly.
11

Hyena

Hyenaphoto – National Geographic
While these predators may be wary of human interaction during the day, after sunset the paradigm shifts. Although hyenas have been known to hunt humans throughout history, the behavior tends to increase during wartime and disease outbreaks due to their strong affinity for human corpses.
10

Komodo Dragon

Komodo Dragonphoto – Kenneth Garrett
Very much like Polar Bears, Komodo Dragons are not picky eaters. They will eat anything from birds to water buffalos to humans and they have even been known to dig up bodies from shallow graves. They are prodigious hunters and will wait stealthily until their prey approaches after which they will charge forward, rip out its throat, and retreat while it bleeds out. Once again, like Polar Bears, the only reason their human kill count is so low is probably due to limited interaction as well as the fact that they only really need to eat once a month.
9

Tse Tse Fly

Tse Tse Flyphoto – Rhett Butler
This large blood sucking fly is the primary carrier of African Sleeping Sickness and is therefore indirectly responsible for killing up to a quarter of a million people every year.
8

Leopard

Leopardphoto – Tom Weilenman
When most animals are wounded they run away and hide. Not leopards. When these dangerous creatures are wounded they become even more dangerous. Not only that, but they’re strong. Anyone who has watched the Discovery Channel knows that they like to hide their prey out of reach. Translation: they drag dead antelopes up trees.
7

Carpet Viper

Carpet Viperphoto – Tim Vickers
Responsible for the majority of snake related deaths in the world, this viper uses a hemotoxin similar to that of the boomslang. Unfortunately most of the bites occur in areas that lack modern medical facilities so the victims slowly bleed to death over the course of several weeks.
6

Brazilian Wandering Spider

Brazilian Wandering Spiderphoto – techuser
Meet the most venomous spider in the world, according to the Guinness Book of World Records. What makes this critter so dangerous though is also how it got its name – a tendency to wander. They are often found hiding in houses and cars of densely populated areas, especially during daytime. Not a good combination.

5

Blue Ringed Octopus

Blue Ringed Octopusphoto – Tom Weilenman
About the size of a golf ball, don’t let its small stature fool you, it holds enough venom to kill 26 full grown adults and as you may have guessed, there is no antidote. Assuming that your friend ever gets bitten you had better know CPR because you can be sure that within minutes they will be completely paralyzed and unable to breathe. Mother nature, however, shows no mercy and they will maintain their consciousness for the next few hours until the venom is neutralized by their body. This is of course assuming that you, or someone at the hospital, continues artificial respiration.
4

Hippopotamus

Hippopotamusphoto – art.com
Although they are mostly herbivorous, they are also highly aggressive and are widely regarded as one of the most dangerous animals in Africa. They have been known to attack humans without provocation even to the point of destroying entire vehicles.
3

Saltwater Crocodile

Saltwater Crocodilephoto – National Geographic
Sitting at the top of its food chain the Saltwater Crocodile has been known to eat everything from water buffalo to sharks. In order to kill its food it make use of a technique called the “death roll” where it relentlessly flips its prey over and over in the water until it drowns and then comes apart.
2

African Elephant

African Elephantphoto – Beverly Joubert
The world’s largest land animal, elephants can be fiercely aggressive and have been known to trample even a rhinoceros or two to death. They seemingly have the capacity to display bouts of rage and have even engaged in activities that have been interpreted as vindictive, razing entire villages in the process.
1

Mosquito

Mosquitophoto – alvesgaspar
Moving from one of the largest animals in the world we now come to one of the smallest. As small as it is though, it is also the deadliest. It has been estimated that mosquitos transmit diseases to almost 700 million people annually resulting in 2 to 3 million deaths every year.

Google starts rolling out a new YouTube interface

YouTube is rolling out a new design with cleaner interface which makes finding playlists easier. The new design will be rolled out worldwide over the next few days.
Google starts rolling out a new YouTube interface
YouTube has launched a new center aligned user interface similar to its mobile app. The update also brings better playlist management options and makes the service more accessible.
The new interface has a center-aligned look which focuses more on videos. Two links at the top of the screen allow users to navigate between recommended videos and their subscriptions. The 'guide' which has your subscriptions and playlists is displayed more prominently next to the YouTube logo in the center of the screen.
What's more the new interface allows users to watch videos right within the guide screen, from their own curated lists or from channels that they have liked. Personal playlists have a better editing screen as well. For Example, clicking the 'Like' button next to your favorite musicians' favorite videos playlist, will automatically add that playlist to your collection.
The new interface also brings easier Playlist management options. Now, when you create a playlist, YouTube will pop up a new page that lets you organize your videos. The new design will be rolled out over the next few days for users worldwide.
Google had released a new update earlier this month for YouTube that shows the top music videos from the artist's official YouTube channel. The results will appear from random YouTube users as well as from other video sites, though the results from other sites are shown in a much smaller thumbnail.
Recently, YouTube started monitoring video views to avoid artificial inflated video counts. The Google-owned company says that it will take the accuracy of interactions like comments, views or likes "very seriously" as artificially inflating counts mislead fans about the popularity of a video.

Microsoft to give 100GB free storage to its first 100,000 OneDrive users

Microsoft's One Drive will give an extra 100 GB of storage to its first 100,000 users post rebranding for an year.
Microsoft to give 100GB free storage to its first 100,000 OneDrive users
Microsoft is giving away 100GB of extra storage space to the first 100,000 people who sign up for their OneDrive accounts as part of its promotion post re-branding. The extra space will be added to users' existing OneDrive (formerly SkyDrive) storage, and will be available to users for one year.
Angus Logan, the group product marketing manager for OneDrive, confirmed the promotion but didn't reveal a specific launch date. He added that OneDrive users who want to get the free storage will have to check Microsoft's OneDrive Twitter feed for the latest news.
"We aren't announcing a time in advance. We're telling people to monitor [the OneDrive Twitter account] for clues about the promotion and how they can be part of the 100,000," said a Microsoft spokesperson.
The 100 GB of storage will be added to the 7 GB free storage that OneDrive provides on sign-up. Users can also get additional 5 GB of storage by inviting their friends to OneDrive, and get another 3 GB by using OneDrive's camera backup feature.

Microsoft is also offering additional online storage space to its tablet and Windows Phone users. Users will get an additional 200 GB of OneDrive space for two years with Surface 2 or Surface 2 Pro tablet. The company will also give bonus space to its users who have already been using Windows Phones.

Microsoft rebranded Skydrive to OneDrive after losing trademark lawsuit to British Sky Broadcasting Group in June last year. Initially Microsoft had decided to appeal against the UK courts ruling but later dropped it for a "reasonable period of time to allow for an orderly transition to a new brand" for SkyDrive. Microsoft has renamed SkyDrive and SkyDrive Pro to 'OneDrive' and 'OneDrive for Business' respectively.

Nokia Android phone’s name ‘confirmed’ by press shot

NEW DELHI: The name of Nokia's much-speculated Android phone has reportedly been confirmed, courtesy device's press shots leaked by Twitter user @evleaks. To be called Nokia X, the company's Android phone is reportedly all set to launch at the forthcoming MWC in Barcelona.

The device's press render features a green colour variant of the phone complete with the Nokia Xbranding also in green colour. Nokia's social media account pages too had switched to a green colour theme during the last weekend, though it has now been removed. The green colour is often associated with Android and perhaps Nokia intends to signal the arrival of the Android-based Nokia X with its upcoming campaign.

Nokia's Android smartphone is said to have a Windows Phone-like interface and will not have access to Google Play Store. Instead, Nokia is said to have added its own app store -- featuring popular apps like Skype, Facebook etc --- in the device.

According to earlier reports, Nokia X will have a 4-inch screen with 1.2GHz dual-core Snapdragon 200 processor, 512MB RAM, 5MP camera, Bluetooth 4.0, Android 4.4 (KitKat) operating system and 4GB internal storage. It is said to be a dual-sim smartphone and come in six colour options.

Previously, Vietnamese online retailer Techrum.vn had listed Nokia X on its website at a price of 2.2 mill to 2.5 mill VND (approximately $110).
The Finnish manufacturer has scheduled an event for February 24 -- the first day of MWC 2014 -- where it is also expected to unveil Lumia 630, Lumia 635 and Lumia 930 other than Nokia X. The company is also expected to showcase a new Asha smart feature phone at the event.
